Sinus lift
Implants in the upper back jaw, even with little bone.
A procedure to gain bone height below the maxillary sinus so implants can be placed where the upper molars were.

The upper molars sit right below the maxillary sinus. When they are lost, bone shrinks and the sinus “drops”. A sinus lift creates the bone space needed to place implants there.
What it solves
- Not enough bone height below the sinus to place implants for upper molars
How it is done
Step by step
- 01
Imaging studies
We measure the available bone height and the anatomy of the sinus.
- 02
Lift
We gently lift the sinus membrane and fill the space with graft material. It can be done through a side window or through the implant site itself.
- 03
Maturation or simultaneous implant
If there is enough bone to stabilize the implant, it goes in during the same surgery. If not, we wait a few months.
Who is a candidate
Is this for me?
- Patients missing upper molars for a long time
- People with large sinuses and little remaining bone
Common questions
What people ask us
Is it a complicated surgery?
It is a routine procedure in implant dentistry. It is done under local anesthesia and takes about an hour. Aftercare is simple (for example, no forceful nose blowing for a few days).
